Exemplaire sur un flan large et irrégulier, bien centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis complets. Usure superficielle sur le portrait. Très joli revers de style fin. Belle patine marron chocolat. Conserve au revers une partie de son brillant de frappe

Reverse description : Carin et Jupiter debout face à face ; Carin est debout à gauche, tounré à droite, vêtu militairement, tenant un sceptre de la main gauche ; Jupiter est nu, le manteau sur les épaules, debout à droite, tournée à gauche, tenant un globe de la main droite qu’il tend à Carin et un sceptre long de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Iovi Conservatori”, (À Jupiter conservateur).

Poids très léger. Sans argenture. Rubans de type 3. Cuirasse et épaulière cloutées. Ptéryges fines. C’est la première fois que nous proposons ce type à la vente.

Augustus

Carin was elevated to august in March 283. After the death of Carus, he shared power with his brother Numerian. After the latter's death, he had to fight against the usurpation of Julian of Pannonia, whom he eliminated at Verona. He then had to turn against Diocletian who had been elected after the death of Numerian in the East. Diocletian was defeated at Margus in June or July 285, but Carinus was assassinated, leaving Diocletian sole ruler of the Roman Empire.
