Étienne Aubert, from Mont en Limousin, was elected pope on December 18, 1352 and was consecrated two days later. In 1356, he rejected the Golden Bull intended to regulate the election of the emperor. The Church loses its spiritual control over this election. Innocent VI died on September 12, 1362..
