Constantin must face a triple danger: the Normans in Sicily, the Uzes (Turkish tribe) in the Balkans and the Seljuks in Asia Minor. On his death, his wife succeeded him, ensuring the regency for his sons Michael VII and Constantine. The Empire faces a grave crisis.
