Exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle pour ce type de monnayage sur un flan large et ovale. Très beau portrait. Joli revers de haut relief. Frappe un peu molle sur la légende. Très belle patine grise avec des reflets marron glacé. Conserve la plus grande partie de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine

Augustus

Constantius II was born on August 7, 318 in Sirmium. He was raised to the cesarat on November 8, 324 at the age of six. He will reign 37 years, one of the longest reigns of the 4th century. After having crushed the revolt of Magnentius, he was alone august with a Caesar, Constance Galle, whom he had executed in 354. On November 6, 355, he elevated his cousin Julian to the title of Caesar. He went to Rome in 357, then to Sirmium, which he made his capital.
