Exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle sur un flan irrégulier. Magnifique petit buste de Crispus. Revers finement détaillé. Très jolie patine marron foncé. Conserve la plus grande partie de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine

Obverse description : Buste lauré, drapé et cuirassé de Crispus César à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant (A*).
Obverse translation : “Flavius Iulius Crispus Nobilissimus Cæsar”, (Flavien Jules Crispus très noble césar).

Reverse


Reverse legend : PRINCIPI I-VVENTVTIS/ T|F// .ATR.
Reverse description : Crispus lauré, vêtu militairement debout à droite, le paludamentum sur les épaules, tenant une haste transversale de la main droite et un globe de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Pricinpi Iuventutis”, (Au prince de la jeunesse).

Commentary


Petit buste particulier de Crispus. Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités bouletées. Ptéryges fines. Au revers, les lettres F et T sont peut-être les initiales pour Felicitas Temporum.

Caesar

Crispus is the son of Constantine and Minervine. Born around 300, he was named Caesar in 317 with Constantine II and Licinius II. Rightly or wrongly, he is accused by his stepmother of wanting to abuse her. Faced with these accusations, Constantine had his eldest son put to death in early 326.
