Reverse description : Restes de cheval passant à gauche, marqué par deux gros globules, élément décoratif sous le poitrail et déformation de l’oiseau au-dessus du dos.
Commentary
Avec un poids de 3,42 grammes, cette drachme est parmi les exemplaires lourds. De plus, nous n’avions jamais proposé à la vente un exemplaire aussi lourd et sur un flan aussi large !.

ELUSATES (Area of the Gers)
(3rd-2nd century BC)
Small people of Aquitaine who occupied part of the current department of Gers, corresponding to the former county of Condomois (Comdom). Their capital was Elusa (Eauze, Gers). The Elusates were subjugated in 56 BC by Publius Licinius Crassus, lieutenant of Caesar, the son of Crassus who campaigned in Aquitaine. Sources: Caesar (BG. III, 27).
