Monnaie avec les types de droit et de revers complets. Patine légèrement irisée au droit, mais un peu terne et poreuse au revers avec de légères concrétions de surface

Obverse description : Tête stylisée à droite, une couronne radiée sur la tête ; les épaules cintrées formées d’un rang de perles entre deux traits parallèles.

Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Reverse description : Enseigne perlée contenant un annelet central entouré de deux T et de deux I ; sommée d’un triangle perlé contenant trois globules ; de part et d’autre de l’enseigne, une pseudo légende verticale.

Cet exemplaire est complet avec une belle tête et la légende TIC bien lisible devant le visage et le A derrière la nuque.

ENGLAND - ANGLO-SAXONS

(7th - 8th centuries)

If the minting of these coins is to be located at the beginning of the 8th century, in Great Britain, it is not exceptional to find them in Gaul. They are often confused with Merovingian silver coins (cf. MONNAIES XIX, n° 503, sceattas c. 680-710, classified in Merovingian denier of Laon). During the 8th century, the style of these pieces is more and more degenerated, they are often in ridge or filled. These coins disappeared from circulation in the second half of the 8th century.
