Statère sur un flan ovale avec quelques éclatements de frappe. Droit et revers assez bien centrés, mais un peu mous

Obverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.

Obverse description : Tête humaine à droite, les cheveux en grosses mèches ; un sanglier enseigne et un cordon perlé dans la chevelure.

Reverse description : Cheval androcéphale galopant à droite ; un sanglier à droite, entre les jambes du cheval ; aurige au-dessus du dos ; vexillum devant la tête.

Commentary

Ce statère correspond aux monnaies DT. 2254-2255, de la série aux sangliers, sans être exactement du même style. L’androcéphale de notre monnaie est très particulier, de style très géométrique avec une crinière stylisée ; ce genre de traitement se retrouve sur certaines monnaies aulerques.
