GREAT-BRITAIN - ANNE

(8/03/1702-12/08/1714)

Anne (6/02/1665-12/08/1714), the second daughter of Jacques II Stuart, succeeded her brother-in-law, Guillaume de Nassau, who died in 1702. She supported the Tories and was favorable to Anglicanism. By her husband, George of Denmark, she had seventeen children, none of whom survived infancy. She fought against France and encouraged the Duke of Malborough. In 1707, she proclaimed the Act of Union with Scotland. She died in 1714 and George of Hanover succeeded her.
