Obverse description : Grand buste lauré de Léopold Ier, cuirassé et drapé, à droite avec la grande perruque et le collier de l'ordre de la Toison d'or.
Obverse translation : (Léopold, par la grâce de Dieu, empereur romain, toujours auguste, roi de Germanie, de Hongrie et Bohême).

Reverse legend : +ARCHIDVX: AVS: DVX: BVR: MAR: MOR: CO: TYR: 16-96.
Reverse description : Écu à cinq quartiers, couronné, sur le tout un petit écu du Tyrol entouré du collier de l'ordre de la Toison d'or dont le bijou coupe la légende en bas brochant sur une aigle bicéphale nimbée et couronnée tenant une épée et un sceptre.
Reverse translation : (archiduc d’Autriche, duc de Bourgogne, margrave de Moravie, comte de Tyrol).

Ce type de thaler fut frappé à Hall de 1694 à 1696 puis de nouveau en 1698-1700.

Leopold I (1640-1705) succeeded his father, Ferdinand III in 1657. He had to face the Turkish threat. Vienna was again besieged and liberated by the relief army commanded by John III Sobieski.
