Exemplaire sur un grand flan épais, parfaitement centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis complets. Usure très importante, mais parfaitement lisible et identifiable. Patine verte et sable granuleuse

Obverse description : Buste de Justinien Ier, diadémé avec pendilia, couronné et cuirassé de face, tenant le globe crucigère de la main droite et un bouclier orné d'un cavalier de la gauche (N1'a) ; diadème perlé ; dans le champ à droite, une croix.
Obverse translation : “Dominus Noster Iustinianus Perpetuus Augustus”, (Notre Seigneur Justinien Perpétuel Auguste).

Justinian succeeded his uncle Justin in 527 after a co-regency from April 4 to August 1, 527. He reigned with Empress Theodora. The construction of Hagia Sophia was completed under his reign, which marks the height of the Byzantine conquests. Carthage as well as Africa and part of Numidia were reconquered from the Vandals thanks to General Bélisaire. After a century of Vandal domination, Romanism once again reigned over the Mediterranean.
