Historical background

KUSHAN - KUSHAN KINGDOM - ANONYMOUS

(3rd century AD)

At the beginning of the 3rd century, the Kushans made their appearance on the international scene in the Middle East on the remains of the Parthian and Indian kingdoms in the regions of Sakastan and Turan. The Sassanid influence is first very clear under the reigns of Ardashir I (226-241) and Sapor I (241-272) before disappearing. The Sasanian influence is felt again throughout the 4th century.
