Victor Cousin (1792-1867) est un philosophe et homme politique français, chef de l'école éclectique, il édita les œuvres de Descartes, traduisit Platon et Proclus, écrivit une Histoire de la philosophie au XVIIIe siècle (1829), Du Vrai, du Beau et du Bien (1853), et plusieurs monographies sur les femmes célèbres du xviie siècle.
