Pour ce type, il est très difficile de déterminer des liaisons de coins. Le monnayage, bien que peu abondant, comporte un nombre important de coins de droit.

Historical background

MACEDONIA - NEAPOLIS

(6th - 5th century BC)

Neapolis, colony of Thasos was founded in the 6th century BC. The city was located at the foot of Mount Pangea, on the mainland, on the opposite side to its metropolis, Thasos. It thus controlled the routes of penetration towards Thrace. As Neapolis was the natural lock of the very rich mines of Pangea, it passed successively under Athenian control from 463 BC, then under that of Philip II of Macedon during the expedition of 358-357 BC. BC and the capture of Amphipolis.
