Exemplaire sur un flan ovale, bien centré au droit, légèrement décentré au revers. Belle scène de lutte au droit. Frappe un peu molle au revers. Jolie patine de médaillier avec des reflets dorés

Commentary


Au droit, la scène semble s’animer grâce à la précision de la prise. Au revers, le grènetis ne prend plus la forme d’un carré linéaire mais épouse la forme du flan.

PAMPHYLIA - ASPENDOS

(5th - 4th century BC)

Aspendos, located 12 kilometers from the top of the Eurymedon, was a great economic place and had a large port on the coast. Aspendos remained loyal to the Persians until the arrival of Alexander the Great and resisted him before being taken in 333 BC. Aspendos belonged to the kingdom of Pergamum between 189 and 133 BC.
