Ce type, créé en 1749, fut frappé à Utrecht de 1749 à 1751, puis de 1760 à 1763. Ces pièces connurent un grand succès aux Pays-Bas et dans les Indes Néerlandaises. C'est une monnaie destinée au grand commerce international.

On January 23, 1579, the five provinces of Holland, Zeeland, Utrecht, Gelderland and Friesland United Provinces formed a federal state during the Union of Utrecht. The province of Overijssel joined the five provinces in the same year, that of Groningen in 1594. In July 1581, the deputies of the northern provinces declared Philip II deposed.
