Commentary


Les Hévin seraient originaires d’Irlande et descendent de Jean qui vint s’établir à Arras en 1537. On les trouve ensuite en Bretagne. La famille compte un célèbre jurisconsulte Pierre Hévin qui était conseiller au présidial. Il est le père de Jacques-Jean Hévin, maire de Rennes et décédé en 1758 auquel nous attribuons ces jetons (source : http://perso.wanadoo.fr/odile.halbert/Famille/Hevin.pdf). Ce jeton de 1762 serait une frappe posthume.

The Parliament of Brittany was established in Rennes in 1561, until the end of the Old Regime, it will show its independence. The city also receives the University of Brittany in 1735. The city had more than 210,000 inhabitants at the 1999 census.
