Historical background

RUSTIA

(76 BC)

Cnæus Octavius and Caius Scribonius Curio were consuls in 76 BC. After Sylla's death in 78 BC, Lepidus died in 77 BC in Sardinia after being beaten by Catullus and Pompey . Perpena joins Sertorius in Spain. Pompey, going to take his command in Spain, crushes a revolt in Transalpine Gaul. Caesar attacks Dolabella for extortion. At the beginning of the following year, Sicinius proposed to restore the powers of the tribunes of the plebs, undermined by the Senate. In Spain, Metellus and Pompey are defeated by Sertorius. The latter is close to Mithridates VI of Pontus.
