Commentary

Frederik Alfred Lohmann (né le 2 avril 1870 à Brême ; † 4 septembre 1919 à Timmendorfer Strand ) était un marchand allemand de Brême. Pendant la Première Guerre mondiale, Lohmann a travaillé en 1915 au ministère de l'Économie du Reich et au Trésor du Reich pour développer le trafic sous-marin avec les sous-marins marchands afin de contourner le blocus naval britannique . À cette fin, lui, Norddeutscher Lloyd et Deutsche Bank fondèrent la German Ocean Shipping Company (DOR) en 1915. Le sous-marin allemand a pu effectuer avec succès deux voyages en 1916 sous la direction du capitaine Paul König . En 1916, des lettres de bateaux de plongée furent également transportées aux États-Unis.
