Historical background

SULPICIA

(106 BC)

Caius Atilius Serranus and Quintus Servilius Caepio were consuls in 106 BC. Two years earlier, Servius Sulpicius Galba was also consul. It is related to our currency. The gens Sulpicia, originally from Lavinium, claims to go back to Aeneas, but does not appear in consular records until the beginning of the Republic with Servius Sulpicius Camarinus in 500 BC. Emperor Galba (68-69 ) belonged to the prestigious gens des Sulpicii.
