SYRIA - SELEUKID KINGDOM - ANTIOCHUS II THEOS

(261-246 BC)

Antiochus II succeeded his father, Antiochus I (280-261 BC). Under his reign Parthia, Bactria and the kingdom of Pergamon were definitively lost. The struggle against the Egypt of Ptolemy II Philadelphus (285-246 BC) was continuous and the control of Syria and Cilicia was often questioned. Antiochus II possibly perishes assassinated.
