Exemplaire sur un flan large bien centré des deux côtés. Belle tête particulière d’Antiochus IV, caractéristique du début du règne. Usure superficielle au revers. Belle patine de collection ancienne avec des reflets dorés

Commentary


Mêmes coins que l’exemplaire de la vente Sternberg 10 (25/XI/1980), n° 172. Dans le champ supérieur gauche, il reste des traces d’un second attribut, un trépied qui a été arasé.

Antiochus IV was the youngest son of Antiochus III. He had been sent to Rome as a hostage after the Peace of Apamea. He fought the Egyptians, ravaged the Temple of Jerusalem and won several victories over Ptolemy VI Philometor (180-145 BC).
