Obverse description : Buste diadémé, drapé et cuirassé de Valentinien Ier à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant (A'c) ; diadème perlé et gemmé.
Obverse translation : “Dominus Noster Valentinianus Pius Felix Augustus”, (Notre seigneur Valentinien pieux heureux auguste).

Reverse legend : RESTITVTOR - REIPVLICAE/ +|-// *ANTI*.
Reverse description : L'Empereur debout de face tourné à droite, vêtu militairement, tenant le labarum croiseté de la main droite et un globe nicéphore de la main gauche.

Valentinian, proclaimed on February 25, 364, joined his brother Valens on August 24 of the same year. They share the Empire, Valentinian reserving the West. In 367, the Emperor named Augustus his son Gratian. Valentinian died on November 17, 375, leaving the West in great danger.
