Exemplaire sur un petit flan, court sur la légende de revers. Tête de haut relief au droit. Revers finement détaillé. Très jolie patine de médaillier avec des reflets dorés. Conserve l’intégralité de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine

Augustus

Albin was proclaimed in April 193, at the latest in May. After the elimination of Dide Julien, he was content with the title of Caesar subordinated to Septimius Severus. In 194, Albin was consul for the second time with Septimius Severus. The rupture is consummated after the victory of Septimius Severus over Pescennius Niger. Albin, who remained in Rome, proclaimed himself august. Septimius Severus elevates Caracalla to the caesarat on May 27, 196 and after the fall of Byzantium in the summer, he marches on Rome which Clodius Albinus has abandoned, followed by most of the Senate. A refugee in Gaul, Albin was finally beaten on February 19, 197 near Lyon. Albin, his family and many supporters (more than 20,000) are executed in retaliation.
