Obverse description : Buste drapé de la République aux cheveux courts à gauche, coiffée d'un bonnet phrygien orné d'une cocarde tricolore (centre guilloché, cercle lisse, cercle guilloché), sous une couronne composite de blé, chêne et olivier nouée par un ruban ; sous le ruban MORLON.

Reverse description : 2 / FRANCS, en deux lignes au-dessus de 1959 encadré des différents, le tout entre deux cornes d'abondance symétriquement opposées.

D’après l’ouvrage “Essais Monétaires & Piéforts Français” de Michel Taillard et Michel Arnaud, la composition de cette monnaie est la suivante :
92% Cuivre ; 6% Nickel ; 2% aluminium
Le flan de cette monnaie a les mêmes caractéristiques de la future 10 Francs Mathieu.
