Ce denier est frappé sur un flan large et légèrement irrégulier. Monnaie recouverte d’une patine grise de médaillier. La croix du revers apparaît en négatif au droit

Commentary

Exemplaire qui serait unique classé par erreur à Nantes par Faustin Poey-d’Avant qui a voulu lire dans la légende du revers NANNETISO, suivant en ce sens Thomsen, directeur du Cabinet des médailles de Copenhague qui a publié pour la première fois une telle monnaie en 1834. Benjamin Fillon a démontré que le ETISO était une dégénérescence de CASTRO et le NANNE venait de CAINONI. Sa démonstration est reprise par Dominique Legros. Un exemplaire unique en électrum avec tête à gauche et au nom de Louis IV d’Outremer est également connu. Sur ce dernier, la légende CAINONIS CASTRO est plus lisible.
